Bruce Lee created a system of various techniques from Northern Praying Mantis, Southern Praying Mantis, Choy Li Fut, Eagle Claw, Western Boxing, Wrestling, Fencing, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and some of the more refined kicks of the Northern & Southern Chinese styles. Innovative and radically ahead of his time in his training and teaching methodology, Bruce Lee developed a martial system and fighting strategy that has lost none of its effectiveness over time.
Emphasizing the "ranges of combat", students are taught to confidently and with ease "flow" from long distance, "kicking- range", to middle distance, "hand- range", to close quarter, "trapping & grappling range". The movements are crisp, and efficient, utilizing the most direct lines and angles. JKD affords the practitioner a means by which to effectively pursue the most direct line of attack. And once an attack has been launched there are no breaks or interruptions. As one technique nears completion, it starts to blend into the next and so forth: one continuous flowing motion until the conflict is resolved.
The Power Martial Arts curriculum is devoted entirely to teaching, preserving, and expanding the arts & philosophies of the late Bruce Lee and the Filipino Combatives through Guru Dan Inosanto,Philipine Combative Alliance also teaching the art and philosophy of the Ken Zen Ichii II system by Soke Childress and the art of Chi learned from The School Of The Final Dragon by Sibok Fulton and Toa Living Arts by Camilo Sanchez. Students are able to enhance their natural attributes, such as coordination, timing, speed, endurance, strength and agility, using the innovative teaching and training methods developed by Bruce Lee and preserved and taught today by his protégé, student and training partner, Dan Inosanto.
Master Erwin Villezon has been practicing since he was 8 years old and has been teaching for over 30 years. He has studied with world renowned artist like Guro Dan Inosanto, Ajarn Chai, Larry Hartsell, Kru Puk, Eric Lee, Douglas Wong and others as well. He was a classmate with Brandon Lee at the
Soke Childres, founder of the Ken Zen Ichii-BSR, has been involved in martial arts since the early 60's and has spread the seeds of Ken Zen Ichii to many black belts thats taken the knowledge wisdom and understanding from coast to coast and international. Located in Charlotte (Huntersville) NC, The House Of Soke is continuing to spread this seed through current teachers, Sensei Leary, Sensei Montgomery and a few other teachers as well. Soke has definitely made an impact on my understanding and training in martial arts. This is a bare knuckle, no pads system and no nonsense form of training that some wantabe artist shy away from, separating the wheat from the tares.
Sibok(Master) Fulton Cuthbertsom, founder of The School Of The Final Dragon, associated with the American Gung Fu Association, has also been an important part of my martial arts training. Emphazing the importance of breath work and chi is the focal point of Sibok's classes. Very challenging breath work exercises and conditioning exercises like the chi crawl are trade marks of Sibok Fulton's teachings. These seemingly simple exercises has humbled many big chest, muscle bound gym rats into submission by using only their own body weight. This is where I started looking into bodyweight and functional strength training.
Amur has been practicing since 1989 and throughout the mid 90’s in the art of Ninjitsu and is now involved with Kung fu and Mixed Martial Arts since 1998 such as Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Grappling, and Muay Tai. He has studied under teachers like Sibok Fulton Cuthbertson (AGA),whom I credit to getting me back on the path to training and practicing the art, learning various forms from him along with emphasis on breathing, this was what I needed to get back on track after an accident I was involved in around the late 90's.
